The Queens Hall will rock so hard tonight that I fear I may weep salty tears of rock elation. | YES! Therapy? Oh, oodles of foot-stomping, bone-crunching, thunderously noisy yes!
Sorry, where was I ?
Oh yes, what's going on in Pembs this weekend. Well, you might know that seminal Irish rockers will be gracing the Queens Hall, Narberth with their presence this very eventide. They're touring on the back of a new album, 'One Cure Fits All'; and the evening promises to be a hot, sweaty moshathon. I shall be there, joyously cleaving skulls in the centre of the pit.
Gwala Promotions in association with Helter Skelter are putting on the evening, with support from One Room Down and Love Rocket. There are still some tickets left, priced £11 - so call 01834 861212 to ensure you're not disappointed. There should be some on the door too, but ensure you get there early. Doors at 8 pm. And find out what those who gave the world 'Screamager' have been up to recently at www.therapyquestionmark.co.uk.
Today is also the Farmers' Market in Haverfordwest, so get down there to bag some bargainacious farmyard goodies.
Also, the Fishguard Folk Festival begins today. Stay tuned for more details from Fishguard's very own godess Becky Hotchin later today.
On Saturday, also at the Queens Hall, there's the enchanting and transcendental sitar of Purbayan Chatterjee. The charming frontman with the firey fingers is certain to woo the room. To join in this wooitude, call Span Arts 01834 869323. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10/£9 Span members.
This weekend will also see numerous snooker stars wowing the crowds at the Texaco Charity Snooker Challenge, hosted at Folly Farm. If you want to see household names such as Steve Davis, John Parrott, Joe Swail, Dominic Dale, Michael White and Matthew Stevens in action, it's a must.
Kayak enthusiasts can get their oar in this weekend at the Stackpole Sea Kayak Festival, which starts on Saturday. Now in its second year, the festival provides a chance for sea kayakers from all over Britain to come and enjoy the fantastic coast and islands of southern Pembrokeshire. It is based at the National Trust's residential centre in Stackpole.
Saturday is also my birthday. So if you'd like to head down to Broad Haven beach, in order to rock with mirth at my vain attempts to light a barbecue in the driving, cold deluge, then by all means be my guest. All cards and monetary donations gratefully accepted.
On Sunday the AMP festival kicks off at the Theatr Mwldan with Irish jigmeisters Altan. This has sold out, but there are more gigs during the course of next week. Click on the article below for more details.
If you like your muddy men in shorts, then head on up to Newport's 21st Celebratory Rugby Sevens tournament, all day Sunday.
And for budding pyromaniacs, there's the Celtic Fire Festival at Castell Henllys. This tops off a weekend of rock and fire - I can't imagine a better combination. Ok, so it's going to chuck it down with rain; but you can't have everything.
By the way, did I mention that Therapy? are playing at the Queens Hall tonight ? w00t!
If there's anything I've missed, feel free to email me at owec@pembrokeshiretv.com.
