Carelessness on boats made work for the Pembrokeshire Coastguard over the weekend, with a number of emergencies caused by thoughtlessness.
St Davids RNLI received a mobile call o Saturday from a 16 foot motor boat drifting at Ramsey Sound.
The boat’s engine had failed, leaving the boat’s owner and his dog stranded.
The lifeboat managed to tow the boat to Whitesands where the owner was ticked off for not having adequate safety or communications equipment on board.
Meanwhile concerned memebrs of the public raised the alarm at Wiseman Bridge, where a small boat had been spotted leaving the area in the afternoon.
There were six people onboard - including two children and a baby – none of whom appeared to be wearing life jackets. There also appeared to be little in the way of safety equipment onboard.
Tenby Coastguard Team decided to launch a full-scale search at 9.55 pm as the vehicle and trailer which had brought the vessel to the beach reamined unattended in the car park.
Eventually the boat was found tied up safely at Saundersfoot Harbour, and the owner, from Robeston Wathen, had the error of his ways pointed out to him.
