Pembrokeshire County Councillor Brian Hall, at the centre of the controversy |
The Caveat Group have recently hit out against Pembrokeshire Councillor Brian Hall in the strongest possible terms.
There follows a release donated by Dave Edwards of The Caveat Group. The views expressed therein do not necessarily represent those of pembrokeshiretv.com :
With Welsh Assembly electioneering in full swing, local politicians of all parties are more inclined to be arguing than agreeing.
However, in Pembrokeshire they are unanimous about one thing – Cabinet member Cllr Brian Hall must go! Indeed, so strongly do they feel on the issue that they have submitted joint resolutions to the next council meeting.
“His behaviour having been called reprehensible and disreputable by the county council’s own standards committee his position is clearly untenable”, said Plaid Cymru group leader Michael Williams, “and why the council leader is backing him, by keeping him in his cabinet post, is a mystery”.
Labour’s group leader, Sue Perkins, echoed these sentiments. “ How anyone who has admitted making threats of violence against a BBC reporter, and was previously censured by the full council for physically threatening the then group leaders of Labour and Plaid Cymru, can represent Pembrokeshire on anything, inside or outside the county just beggars belief” she said.
Cllr Tony Brinsden for the Liberal Democrats joined in the condemnation. “Pembrokeshire will become the laughing stock of local government unless the council leader, John Davies, condemns Cllr Hall in the strongest possible terms and removes him from all positions where he represents Pembrokeshire immediately”.
Notice Of Motion
1. This council accepts and agrees the statement by its Standards Committee that Cllr Hall’s conduct has been both reprehensible and disreputable. It has no confidence in Cllr Hall’s suitability to represent the authority on any outside body and requests the Leader to remove him from all such appointments with immediate effect.
2. This council is of the opinion that the continued presence of Cllr Hall in the cabinet is an affront to the good name of Pembrokeshire and that the Leader should remove him immediately.
